About
This Community Project

My name is Leila Chavez and I am part of Olympia High School’s class of 2023. I have a strong passion for climate justice as well as a love for art. I’ve lived in the Pacific Northwest for more than ten years and I have a deep connection to the area’s communities, cultures, and environments.

Working with FOR, the Mike Yarrow Peace Fellowship, and the Pace e Bene 2022 Changemaker Youth Grant, I am excited to present an artistic social change movement to the Olympia and greater Pacific Northwest community.

My project, the Art for Climate Justice Showcase is an opportunity for artists and creative thinkers of all ages to come together in an artistic protest against climate change and injustices. The culmination of this project will be an in person art exhibit showcasing participants’ artwork.
